Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

Christmas festivities have truly kicked off at Glebe this week!  Our iRock bands from across the school held their very first concert on Tuesday, performing to both parents and pupils.  I was so impressed by their confidence, musical skill and fantastic singing.  With mini rockers in KS1 and even a bit of band merchandise on show, it was impossible not to get swept up in the excitement.  I know I was humming along to the White Stripes mash-up for the rest of the day!

Christmas rehearsals are now well under way, and we look forward to welcoming our families to the upcoming performances over the next couple of weeks.  If you’ve missed out on any events, remember that we try to capture as much as possible on our social media channels.  If you’re not already following us, please do sign up so you can stay connected with all the festive fun.

Whatever your plans, whether enjoying family time, putting up decorations, or simply taking a well-earned rest, I hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

News from EYFS

This week in Reception, the children have been enjoying the story The Jolly Christmas Postman as part of our festive learning.  They’ve had lots of fun writing their own letters to Santa, which they’ll be posting on our walk to the local post box!  Along the way, they also learned about the journey a letter takes once it’s sent and what needs to be included on an envelope.

In addition, the children have been busy getting creative, making their own Christmas decorations with plenty of glitter!  These decorations will be proudly displayed on both our classroom tree and the school Christmas tree.

Fortnightly Focus on Norms: Linked to the British Value of Respect

Theme: Respect and Making An Impact for Disadvantaged Pupils

Overview: This fortnight, our focus will centre around the British value of respect, a cornerstone of how we interact with others and work together as a community.  We will link respect to our ongoing commitment to making a tangible impact on the learning experiences of our disadvantaged pupils.  This will involve actively anticipating potential barriers, finding solutions to overcome them, and always striving to provide exceptional quality in everything we do.

Key Goals:

Anticipate Problems: Proactively identify challenges faced by disadvantaged pupils, whether in terms of access to resources, emotional wellbeing, or learning gaps.

Find Solutions: Collaboratively come up with effective strategies and interventions that allow us to meet the needs of these pupils, ensuring they feel respected and supported.

Provide Exceptional Quality: Deliver high-quality teaching, tailored support, and a nurturing environment where every pupil is treated with dignity, kindness, and fairness.

How can you support your child during this focus?

Encourage Respectful Behaviour: Discuss what respect means at home and how it can be shown in various situations, whether it’s respecting peers, teachers, or school rules.

Be Proactive in Communication: If your child is facing challenges, reach out to teachers early so we can work together to address any issues before they become bigger obstacles.

Support Learning at Home: Encourage good habits such as time management, organisation, and a positive attitude towards school.  These habits are key to overcoming challenges and ensuring a smooth learning experience.

Reinforce Positive Solutions: Celebrate the small successes when your child finds solutions to difficulties in their work or personal challenges.  This will help them build resilience and confidence.

Resource Base Visit to Sarah’s Creative Kitchen

After a busy week of autumn term assessments, the RB children enjoyed a well-deserved treat on Thursday morning with a visit to Sarah’s Creative Kitchen.

Christmas music, chocolate trees, and lots of smiles made it a truly magical outing.  The children represented the school beautifully, and it was an absolute joy to take them!
