Local Area
We are located close to the Sweyne Park Open Space. Originally war-time agricultural land, it became a cherished green area in the late 1980s under Rochford District Council’s care. Since 1992, the local Parks and Open Spaces Officer has developed the park, planting trees, shrubs, and wildflowers across its 57 acres. The central meadow, popular with dog walkers, encourages ground-nesting birds and wildlife. The lake, extended during housing development, fosters diverse habitats. Spot Blue Tits, Green Finches, and Sparrow Hawks, among others, and don’t miss the charming Meadow Salsify.
Glebe Primary School celebrates its close connection to this natural gem. Come join us in nurturing a passion for the environment as we discover, educate, and appreciate the wonders of Sweyne Park’s open space and its wildlife.
