Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

Well done to all of our children who have managed beautifully this week, particularly with the dreaded bugs and flu making their way through the building.  We’ve had a number of staffing changes as a result, and the children have shown great resilience and adaptability, something we are very proud of.

Our Christmas productions have been a real highlight.  The energy, enthusiasm and confidence shown by every performer have been exceptional, truly the best we’ve seen in many years.  Thank you for your support in helping the children prepare; it has certainly shone through on stage.

We are also delighted to share that Mrs Winslade and Miss Dixon are now fully trained ELSA practitioners (Emotional Literacy Support Assistants).  This means they are equipped to offer specialised emotional support for children who may need help with confidence, friendships, anxiety, self-esteem and other social-emotional needs.  This is a wonderful addition to the pastoral care we are able to offer at Glebe.

Next week, as we move towards the end of term, we have lots of festive activities planned, including the Elf Emporium and Santa’s Grotto.

On Wednesday, we will enjoy Christmas dinner, Christmas jumper day and the Panto, which we are all very much looking forward to.  Lunchtime will be extended to allow everyone to enjoy their meal.

Finally, on Friday, children are invited to dress down and wear their comfiest, fluffiest socks for a fun-filled day of board games as we round off a busy and joyful term.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, and thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

Introducing ‘Language Link’

Glebe Primary School is adopting this exciting new initiative in 2026!

The aim is to identify those children, within our school community, who would benefit from classroom-based adaptive teaching techniques and/or specific skill-based group work in order to bolster their speech, language and communication development.

In addition, the programme will enable us to identify those children who need support from and referral to a specialist Speech and Language Therapy service.

This new initiative is being offered as a whole school approach.  As such, please inform your child’s class teacher via Class Dojo if you do not wish your child to be included.

News from the Resource Base

The festivities are well under way in the Resource Base.  The children have been working hard in their lessons and in the rehearsals for their Christmas productions.  They have been performing brilliantly and it has been nice to see their fabulous signing and hear their amazing singing.  If you haven’t seen your child’s production yet, you have something coming which will make you feel festive.  One more week to go which we are sure the children are excited about as it includes the grotto and the panto.  Wishing you all a restful weekend.

News from EYFS

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had!

Our classrooms have been filled with glitter, sequins and sparkle.  The children have loved making Christmas tree decorations, stockings, angels, and beautifully painted Christmas trees.  They also created some truly fabulous Christmas cards to take home.

We are so proud of their wonderful singing and acting as they prepare for their performance of The Wriggly Nativity.  This week, we also sequenced the story of the first Christmas, and some children challenged themselves by adding time connectives to their work.

We had the opportunity to watch the KS1 performance, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.  They were such a fantastic and respectful audience.

In maths, we have been learning about how we use time to understand day and night, and talking about the different activities we do at various times of the day.

Thank you for your continued support, it’s lovely to see the children so engaged and excited during this festive season!

Fortnightly Focus on Norms: Linked to the British Value of Respect

Theme: Respect and Making An Impact for Disadvantaged Pupils

Overview: This fortnight, our focus will centre around the British value of respect, a cornerstone of how we interact with others and work together as a community.  We will link respect to our ongoing commitment to making a tangible impact on the learning experiences of our disadvantaged pupils.  This will involve actively anticipating potential barriers, finding solutions to overcome them, and always striving to provide exceptional quality in everything we do.

Key Goals:

Anticipate Problems: Proactively identify challenges faced by disadvantaged pupils, whether in terms of access to resources, emotional wellbeing, or learning gaps.

Find Solutions: Collaboratively come up with effective strategies and interventions that allow us to meet the needs of these pupils, ensuring they feel respected and supported.

Provide Exceptional Quality: Deliver high-quality teaching, tailored support, and a nurturing environment where every pupil is treated with dignity, kindness, and fairness.

How can you support your child during this focus?

Encourage Respectful Behaviour: Discuss what respect means at home and how it can be shown in various situations, whether it’s respecting peers, teachers, or school rules.

Be Proactive in Communication: If your child is facing challenges, reach out to teachers early so we can work together to address any issues before they become bigger obstacles.

Support Learning at Home: Encourage good habits such as time management, organisation, and a positive attitude towards school.  These habits are key to overcoming challenges and ensuring a smooth learning experience.

Reinforce Positive Solutions: Celebrate the small successes when your child finds solutions to difficulties in their work or personal challenges.  This will help them build resilience and confidence.
