Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

As the moments of laughter and joy for this school year echo through our corridors, I find myself reflecting, not just on the term that has passed, but on the display of moments that have made it unforgettable.  From the quiet triumphs of new readers finding their voice, to the loud cheers on sports day, your children have filled our school with spirit, determination and laughter.

They’ve grown not just in height, but in character, kindness and curiosity.  And none of this would be possible without your partnership, the early morning encouragements, the uniform hunts, the packed lunches and the cheers from the side lines at our many sporting successes.  Thank you.

Before we break for summer, we must pause to say fond farewells to two very special members of our staff family who are moving on at the end of this term.

Mr Farrell – after ten incredible years, he leaves behind a legacy of laughter, calm wisdom and steadfast support.  Whether gently guiding our youngest Nursery pupils or solving the knottiest of dilemmas with our Year 6s, Mr Farrell has quietly and consistently touched the lives of every child he has worked with.  His sense of fun is matched only by his gift for being there, just when someone needs a helping hand, a listening ear, or a little boost of courage.

And then there’s Miss Sparkle27 years of dedication, creativity, care and joy.  ‘Sparkle by name and nature’, as we often say.  She now steps into a well-earned retirement, leaving behind a school immeasurably richer because of her.  From the dazzling displays that lit up our corridors, to the countless moments of kindness shown to children (and staff!), Miss Sparkle gave so much and did it all with that unmistakable, infectious laugh that filled our classrooms.  She will be missed more than words can say.

As we now step into the long stretch of summer, I hope your families find moments of adventure, and rest, whether you’re jetting off to somewhere exotic, enjoying the British coast, or exploring the wild wonders of your own back garden.

To our children – a quick word just for you:

Please remember to stay safe in the sun, hats on, sun cream too and don’t forget to drink water even if it’s not juice!  Be extra careful around water, whether you’re by a pool, a lake, or the sea.  Take care when you’re out and about near roads: look both ways, stay alert and cross safely.

If you’re heading out with friends, stick together, there’s safety (and fun) in numbers. And always, always remember: if someone you don’t know speaks to you or asks you to go somewhere, tell a trusted adult straight away.  We talk about “Stranger Danger” at school and I know you’ll remember what we’ve learned.

For now, we wish every one of our families a happy, healthy and safe summer.  We look forward to seeing our school community reunited, sun-kissed and full of stories, when we return on Tuesday 2 September.

With warmest thanks and every good wish for the break ahead.

Warm regards

Mr Clarke
