Dear Glebe Families
What an exciting week it’s been at Glebe! A huge well done to our talented Year 6 pupils for their fantastic production of the School-O-Vision Song Contest, a performance enjoyed by both pupils and parents alike!
Year 2 also had a memorable experience during their Florence Nightingale workshop, diving into history with enthusiasm and curiosity. Meanwhile, Year 5 visited Sweyne Park School where they took part in an exciting science workshop, designing and launching rockets.
Today, you will receive your child’s school report, a reflection of their achievements and progress throughout the year. We invite you to read through the report, add any comments you may wish to share and return it to school.
Looking ahead to next week, we are preparing to say a fond farewell to our wonderful Year 6 pupils. They have several exciting events to look forward to, including their leavers’ assembly for parents and the much-anticipated end of year celebration, Glebefest.
On Tuesday, we also look forward to welcoming you into school for our open school event. This is an opportunity for children and parents to view this year’s work and visit new classrooms and teachers ahead of September.
Thank you for your continued support, especially with this week’s book fair. Your contributions help raise vital funds for new books for our children.
I hope to see many of you later today at the Friends of Glebe Summer Fete, Glebefest, which promises to be a fun-filled evening for all!
Warm regards
Mrs Coote

Bike and Scooter Safety on School Grounds
For everyone’s safety, we kindly ask that all pupils dismount from bikes and scooters once they enter the school site. Riding on school grounds can pose a risk to other pupils, staff and visitors. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and welcoming for all.
News from the Resource Base
It was pleasing to see and hear this week children recalling previous learning and homework when attempting new tasks. The children have shown they are using modal verbs and possessive apostrophes although plural apostrophes can be rather challenging! Those pesky words or names ending in ‘s’ really are tricking us! In maths, the children have shown their skills in statistics, particularly bar graphs and line graphs. The children are now attempting problem solving with these graph types.
In RB2, we have worked hard on our shared write: a news article on an expedition chosen by them. It’s not been easy, we began by writing a narrative but everyone’s end product has been spot on!
In maths, we’ve been learning to tell the time. They’re getting good so they’ll be able to work out whether you’re trying to send them to bed early!
In RB1, we have completed our independent explanation text write on ‘how to care for a robot.’ The children designed their robots, decided where they live and what they eat. A lot of creativity and imagination. We have come to the end of our fractions topic in maths, the children have shown a great understanding of halves, quarters and thirds!
News from EYFS
Another week of lots of fun and learning in Reception.
This week, to continue our topic of On the Farm, we have been learning about vehicles that are used to help.
The children have designed and some have built tractor models. The knowledge that the children have, from this area of our topic, has been shown through some amazing descriptive and informative sentence writing.
In maths, we have been applying our skills to help problem solve. The children have made boats out of different materials, these boats have then transported animals. The children have been working out which animals would be best to transport depending on the number of legs they have. We have revisited missing numbers and odd and even numbers too.
It has been lovely to see the children being very kind and responsible when welcoming and supporting our new Reception children for September to stay and play on Wednesday.
Influential Figure – Katherine Johnson (Mathematician)
Katherine Johnson was a mathematician whose calculations of orbital mechanics were important to the success of early space missions for the USA. She worked for NASA for over thirty years. She helped with the calculations for the first landing on the Moon.
Music Moment
Our music moment this week is Traditional Chinese Music Carnival of the Animals.
Fortnightly Focus: Individual Liberty
This fortnight, we’re learning about Individual Liberty – what it means and why it’s important!
Individual Liberty means having the freedom to make your own choices and be yourself, while also respecting others. It’s about knowing what you are allowed to do and making good decisions that help you grow and learn.
At Glebe, we want everyone to feel safe and confident to express their ideas, try new things and be who they truly are. Remember, with freedom comes responsibility, so always be kind and respectful to others as you enjoy your own liberty.
Think about this:
-What choices do you make every day?
-How can you use your freedom to do something positive?
-How can you respect other people’s choices too?
Let’s celebrate being ourselves and respecting each other’s freedom!
