Dear Glebe Families
It’s been another busy and exciting week here at Glebe! On Wednesday, our Resource Base children had a wonderful trip to Hylands Park, joining their Deaf peers from other Resource Bases. Despite the cooler weather and a few spots of drizzle during their picnic lunch, the children had a fantastic time exploring and socialising.
Thursday saw Year 4 and 5 visiting Sweyne Park School for an inspiring author visit, which really sparked their love of reading and creativity. Meanwhile, Year 6 are hard at work rehearsing for their end of year production. No spoilers yet, but they’re sounding brilliant!
We were also delighted to welcome our newest Reception starters for their stay and play session on Thursday. It was lovely to see so many parents joining us and the children settled in beautifully, ready for September.
Looking ahead, next week we’re gearing up for our annual FOGP Glebefest, featuring stalls, choir performances and lots of fun activities. I will be attending training towards the end of the week, so Mrs Coote and the team will be taking the reins for a couple of days. I’m looking forward to catching up with many of you at the meet the teacher event the following week.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Free After School Clubs – Deanes
A reminder that week commencing 7 July is the final week for the sporting clubs with the Deanes School coaches.
News from the Resource Base
On Wednesday, the Resource Base enjoyed a trip to Hylands Park. This was a wonderful opportunity to develop their Deaf identity by having the chance to meet and socialise with Deaf peers from other local Resource Bases. They played on adventure equipment, took part in team games and completed an eye spy activity of places around the park. The weather did not dampen their enthusiasm and despite the rain, they all still enjoyed an ice cream (whilst the adults warmed themselves with a coffee!). They were a wonderful example of Glebe’s LEARN values, demonstrating to other Resource Bases how we at Glebe behave and interact with others. Well done RB, we are very proud!
News from EYFS
Wow what a scorching week! We have enjoyed learning and writing all about events in the story of Farmer Duck this week we could recall all the key events in the correct sequence. We have learnt all about ducks and what makes them different or the same as other farm animals.
We have explored maps in maths, we even designed our class map and looked at where our school is using Google earth. We used Lego, bricks and blocks to make 3D maps of our own. The children also had fun with mazes and some designed 3D marble mazes.
There has been lots of water play throughout the whole Reception area which the children have loved to help them keep cool.

Fortnightly Focus: Individual Liberty
This fortnight, we’re learning about Individual Liberty – what it means and why it’s important!
Individual Liberty means having the freedom to make your own choices and be yourself, while also respecting others. It’s about knowing what you are allowed to do and making good decisions that help you grow and learn.
At Glebe, we want everyone to feel safe and confident to express their ideas, try new things and be who they truly are. Remember, with freedom comes responsibility, so always be kind and respectful to others as you enjoy your own liberty.
Think about this:
-What choices do you make every day?
-How can you use your freedom to do something positive?
-How can you respect other people’s choices too?
Let’s celebrate being ourselves and respecting each other’s freedom!
