Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

Welcome back!  We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Easter break.  It’s hard to believe we’ve reached this time of year again, the final term always seems to come around so quickly!

I want to take a moment to thank you all for your patience and understanding last term.  We faced a number of challenges, including widespread illness and staff absences, which at times affected our capacity to respond as promptly as we would like.  We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and are committed to getting firmly back on track this term.

This week, we were delighted to welcome back Mrs Norman and Mrs Pankhurst, it’s lovely to have them back in school.  As part of our exciting Early Years expansion, we are also thrilled to have welcomed Mrs Moore and Mrs Rust, who have joined us as new Early Years Practitioners.

Today, we have been busy interviewing candidates for the HLTA/LSA position in our Resource Base and we look forward to updating you on the outcome soon.  We feel incredibly fortunate to be in a strong staffing position, with minimal turnover and the capacity to recruit additional team members.  At a time when recruitment and retention in schools is increasingly challenging, I’m especially grateful for the committed and caring team we’ve built here at Glebe.

This term is packed full of exciting events from sports afternoon and family picnics to parent lunches, the Year 6 production, Friends discos and festivals and much more.  A special thank you to our wonderful Friends of Glebe parent group for funding the fantastic new playground equipment in Lower School.  The children are already loving it and we know it will bring joy for years to come.

I look forward to seeing many of you over the coming weeks, especially as the days grow longer and the sunshine returns.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend, see you on Monday!

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Negotiate and Find Solutions

What does it mean to negotiate and find solutions?

Negotiating means talking and listening to others when you don’t agree, so you can work out a fair solution together.  It’s not about winning, it’s about understanding each other and making sure everyone feels listened to.

What does this have to do with British Values?

In the UK, we believe in the value of democracy.  That means everyone has a say and we listen to different opinions before making a decision, just like we do when we solve problems together at school!

Democracy isn’t just about voting, it’s about learning how to: Listen to others; Take turns to speak; Think about different points of view; Work together to find fair solutions.
