Dear Glebe Families
It’s been another exciting and productive week here at Glebe! Our Year 6 children have been working incredibly hard as they took part in their practice SATs this week. I am immensely proud of their dedication and focus. Their efforts truly embody our values of Ambition and Resilience and it’s clear that they are ready to face any challenge that comes their way.
This week, we also saw our Year 3/4 girls participate in the football festival, showcasing fantastic teamwork and skill. Their performance was a true reflection of our value of Leadership, they encouraged each other, displayed sportsmanship and took on the leadership roles within their team with confidence.
Excellence continues to be at the forefront of everything we do at Glebe. I’m particularly excited about the Year 3 trip to Hyde Hall on Monday, which promises to be an inspiring and educational experience for the children. Trips like this help foster a love for learning and an appreciation for the world around us.
Our school leaders have also been in a meeting with the Governors this week to further strengthen our practices and ensure we continue to improve. Leadership is about always striving to do better and we are committed to continuously enhancing the experiences we offer to our children.
As a school, we must also remember the importance of ‘Norms’, the way we communicate and treat each other. Recently, there have been a few instances where some parents have approached staff in a manner that falls short of the professional and respectful dialogue we strive for. I kindly remind everyone to continue to model our societal norms and to approach all interactions, whether written or verbal, with the same courtesy and respect we expect from our children. Our teachers and staff are dedicated professionals and we ask that all conversations reflect this mutual respect.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide the best possible education for our children.
Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Monday!
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Ignoring Unhelpful Comments and Embracing Tolerance
In our next fortnightly focus, we will be discussing how to handle unkind or unhelpful comments. Sometimes, people may say things that are hurtful or mean, either on purpose or by accident. It’s important to remember that their words don’t define who you are and you have the power to choose how to respond.
What can you do when you hear unhelpful comments?
Stay Calm and Ignore: When someone says something unkind, take a deep breath and choose not to react. By ignoring these comments, you show that they don’t affect you. Responding negatively can sometimes make the situation worse.
Walk Away if Needed: If you feel upset, it’s okay to walk away from the situation. You don’t need to engage with people who are being hurtful.
Talk to Someone You Trust: If a comment really hurts you, talk to a teacher, a parent, or a friend. They can offer support and help you deal with the situation in a healthy way.
Linking to British Values of Tolerance
In Britain, we value tolerance, this means accepting and respecting others, even if they are different from us. Tolerance teaches us to embrace the diversity of people around us and appreciate that everyone has unique qualities.
When we ignore hurtful or unhelpful comments, we’re practising tolerance. We’re showing that we respect people, even if their words aren’t respectful. We understand that sometimes people may be rude because they don’t understand others and we choose not to react with anger. Instead, we maintain respect and kindness.
Remember, everyone has the right to feel safe and respected. By focusing on kindness and tolerance, we create a positive and supportive community where everyone can thrive.
