Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

It’s been a week full of excitement and joy here at school!  We had a fantastic time celebrating Red Nose Day, with the children getting creative and raising money for a great cause.  It was heart-warming to see everyone’s enthusiasm and generosity.

In sports news, our dodgeball team had a brilliant victory, well done to them for their hard work and team spirit!  We’ve also been enjoying the first glimpses of spring, with the sunshine bringing a welcome warmth to our days.  It’s such a joy to see the children playing outside and soaking up the rays!

Looking ahead, next week will be busy.  Our Year 6 children will be practising for their upcoming SATs, while on Monday, we’ll have school photographs, so be sure to send in those big smiles!  Midweek, our Year 3/4 football team will be competing in their tournament and we’re all excited to cheer them on.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Walk Away – Learning to Be Tolerant

Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we disagree with others, or maybe we feel upset or frustrated.  In these moments, it’s important to know that it’s okay to “walk away” – not to avoid the situation, but to give yourself a break and stay calm.

Walking away doesn’t mean you’re giving up.  It means you’re choosing to stay peaceful and respectful.  This is connected to tolerance, which means understanding that everyone has different thoughts, feelings and opinions.  When we walk away from a fight or a tricky moment, we’re showing that we respect other people’s differences and are trying to keep things calm instead of making things worse.

Walking away gives us time to think and helps us stay in control of our emotions.  It’s a great way to practice being kind, not only to others but also to ourselves.  As we keep practising this, we learn how to get along better with others, even when we don’t agree.

So next time you feel upset or caught in an argument, try walking away calmly.  It’s a great way to show tolerance and help everyone stay respectful!

Achievements

Well done to Harry in Year 2 who scored three goals for his football team last Sunday and was awarded Player of the Match!

Sofia in Year 4 entered her first gymnastics competition on Saturday.  She did so well and we are proud of her for taking part!

Year 5 and 6 Dodgeball at Deanes

Mr Acquah took two teams of 8 players each to the dodgeball competition at Deanes School on Wednesday.  Both teams played exceptionally well, with team A qualifying for the semi-finals and team B narrowly missing out.  The A team won their semi-finals against Great Wakering.

Glebe A played Canvey Juniors (we lost to them in the group stage) in the finals.  In an exciting and competitive match, we won 2-1.

A great achievement for the teams and for our school.  Well done to all the children who took part and to the parents who transported the children to and from Deanes School.
