Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

It’s been an exciting week here at school!  Our Year 5/6 boys had an exhilarating football match at Down Hall on Monday; it was a real nail-biter and the team played brilliantly, showing great spirit and determination.  Well done to all involved!

Next Friday, we’re looking forward to a fun-filled Comic Relief Day.  We’ll be raising funds for this fantastic cause and to add to the excitement, we’ll be holding a virtual dance!  We can’t wait to see everyone getting involved and spreading some cheer.

As the weather begins to warm up, please remember to continue wearing appropriate outdoor clothing.  While the days are brighter, there’s still a chill in the air, so make sure to layer up and stay comfortable.

Looking forward to another great week ahead!

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

Inconsiderate and Unsafe Parking

Despite repeated requests, we continue to receive complaints regarding inconsiderate and unsafe parking.  Please could parents refrain from blocking residents’ driveways, parking on the zig zags and on corners/pavements resulting in pedestrians having to step out onto the road.

Fortnightly Focus: Walk Away – Learning to Be Tolerant

Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we disagree with others, or maybe we feel upset or frustrated.  In these moments, it’s important to know that it’s okay to “walk away” – not to avoid the situation, but to give yourself a break and stay calm.

Walking away doesn’t mean you’re giving up.  It means you’re choosing to stay peaceful and respectful.  This is connected to tolerance, which means understanding that everyone has different thoughts, feelings and opinions.  When we walk away from a fight or a tricky moment, we’re showing that we respect other people’s differences and are trying to keep things calm instead of making things worse.

Walking away gives us time to think and helps us stay in control of our emotions.  It’s a great way to practice being kind, not only to others but also to ourselves.  As we keep practising this, we learn how to get along better with others, even when we don’t agree.

So next time you feel upset or caught in an argument, try walking away calmly.  It’s a great way to show tolerance and help everyone stay respectful!

Year 5 and Year 6 Football Update from Mr Acquah

On Friday 7 March, the school football team played against Rayleigh Primary in our penultimate league fixture.  There was a lot riding on the game as we approach the end of the season.  The team played very well in the first half, but found it difficult to produce the same input in the second half.  Unfortunately, we ended up losing 3-1.

Well done to all the boys who represented the school so gallantly and thanks to the parents who, not only offered transport, but also stayed to support the boys.

On Monday 10 March, the football team played Down Hall in one of the games of the season.  Even though the game ended 0-0, it was one of our best games.  The children were outstanding in their game management, sportsmanship and competitive approach.

Well done to the team for making the school proud this season.  We await results from elsewhere to determine where we finish in the league this season.
