Dear Glebe Families
It cannot go unmentioned how proud I am to be part of the Glebe community. Last Friday, we came together to celebrate Henry’s life and the event was both heart-warming and overwhelming. It was a perfect tribute to a perfect young man. The support shown by everyone, from children to staff, was truly moving. In the coming weeks and months, we will be creating a lasting ‘legacy’ that ensures our Henry is never forgotten. As many of the children pointed out, he will always be with us, like the beautiful rainbow that filled the sky during Monday break time.
This past week, our Year 6 pupils took part in an immersive WW2 experience, dressing in period clothing and heading to Rayleigh train station as part of their learning adventures. What a fantastic way to bring history to life! In addition, the children were treated to a fabulous smoothie tasting session with our wonderful catering team and colleagues at Caterlink. I must say, the beetroot smoothie was surprisingly delightful!
On Wednesday, the leadership team and I conducted our half-termly review day, visiting lessons and speaking with pupils to ensure they are deepening their learning. This is a key priority for us, as we continue to drive improvements in mastery, something we are focused on daily as part of our commitment to excellence.
It was also a real pleasure to spend time with our Resource Base children this week, enjoying lunch and hearing their thoughts on what they love about school and areas where we can continue to improve. In the weeks ahead, we’ll be inviting our pupil leadership team to share their insights as well because, after all, we’re all here for the children. Additionally, our Resource Base children delighted Mrs Coote and myself by sharing their fantastic adaptations of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. What a real treat!
Looking ahead, we wish the best of luck to those participating in next week’s athletics event and to our amazing choir who will be taking centre stage at the O2 on Tuesday. We are incredibly proud of them all.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend ahead.
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Tolerance – Understanding Relationships
What is Tolerance?
Over the next two weeks, we’re going to explore an important word: Tolerance. Tolerance means being kind and respectful to others, even if they are different from you in some way.
What does tolerance look like?
Tolerance in Relationships
Now that we know what tolerance is, let’s talk about how it helps in relationships—with friends, family, classmates and even strangers! Healthy relationships are based on respect and understanding and tolerance is a big part of that.
How can we show tolerance in relationships?
Influential Figure of the Week
Amadeus Wolfgang Mozart was a young musician who began composing his own music at the tender age of 5! Imagine that in your house! He was a genius and his father spotted his musical talents, taking Amadeus on tour with him. He became extremely confident to perform and always stole the limelight! This, however, ended up being his downfall, because as an adult he couldn’t get over no longer being a child prodigy!

On Wednesday morning, Year 6 had the opportunity to take part in a smoothie workshop, run by Caterlink. During the workshop, the children were shown a variety of fruit and vegetables, some of which they were unfamiliar with. Following this, they were then able to try a vegetable smoothie and a fruit smoothie. Whilst the smoothies had mixed reviews, the children had fun and enjoyed the session.
