Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

As we approach the end of the penultimate week of term, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the wonderful things happening here at Glebe.  It’s been another bustling and productive week, filled with learning, teamwork and exciting opportunities for our children.

This evening, our boys’ football team will be competing against Down Hall in what promises to be a thrilling match.  The boys have shown fantastic determination and team spirit in their preparations and we wish them the very best of luck.  Go team Glebe!

Earlier this week, I had the pleasure of meeting with fellow headteachers from Rayleigh, Hullbridge and Hockley.  It’s always inspiring to connect with other local schools and share ideas on how we can continue to offer the best possible education for our children.  We discussed some exciting new collaborations, including joint writing moderation, subject leader meet-ups and shared professional development sessions.  These partnerships will provide valuable opportunities for both staff and children, helping us all to grow and improve.

Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome Reverend Glen on Monday, who will be leading our special Harvest Festival assembly with the children.  It’s a lovely time for the children to reflect on the importance of community, gratitude and giving back; values that are close to our hearts here at Glebe.

As always, thank you for your continued support and for being such an integral part of our school community.  The half term break is fast approaching, but for now, let’s enjoy these final days of term.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend!

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Demonstrating Respect

For the next two weeks, we will focus on the important value of respect.  Respect means showing kindness and consideration for others, even when they are different from us or when we don’t always agree with them.

Here are some ways you can show respect:

  • Listening carefully to others when they are speaking.
  • Using polite words like “please,” “thank you,” and “excuse me.”
  • Taking care of school property, toys, books and other things that belong to you or others.
  • Respecting differences by being kind to everyone, no matter their background, beliefs, or abilities.

Respect is also one of the key British Values.  In our diverse country, respect helps us live and work together peacefully, whether it’s at school, home, or in the wider community.  It helps create a positive environment where everyone feels valued and included.  Let’s make sure we show respect in all that we do!

Music Moment of the Week

This week we celebrated Recycling Week in assemblies.  Our music moment was provided by the Recycled Material Junk Music Band whose instruments are made up entirely of junk materials.  Have a listen here:

Influential Figure of the Week

Our influential figure this week was Sir David Attenborough, who has spent his long and illustrious career documenting the Earth’s wildlife and campaigning for climate change.  His documentaries are enjoyed by millions across the world, giving him a unique platform to encourage better lifestyle choices and eco-friendly living.
