Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

What another exciting week we’ve had here at Glebe!  From parent lunches and enrichment events in Year 1 to football tournaments and of course, our visitors from Ofsted!

Firstly, a huge well done to our boys’ football teams who participated in the inter-school tournament on Wednesday.  The boys played admirably, demonstrating teamwork, resilience and outstanding sportsmanship throughout.

We also loved welcoming parents to this week’s Year 1 enrichment event and lunches.  Seeing the children collaborate with their parents was truly special and the joy it brought was heart-warming.  A big thank you to all those who attended!

In addition, we were thrilled to welcome prospective parents to tour our school.  We are incredibly proud to showcase our new libraries, revamped early years environment and vibrant classrooms.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ofsted visitors.  I’m happy to share that their team were warm, kind and very positive about our school.  While I’m unable to share specific details until the report is published, inspectors acknowledged the great progress we’ve made.  They were particularly impressed with the politeness and attitudes of our pupil ambassadors and the breadth of our enrichment activities.  Safeguarding, attendance and behaviour procedures were also praised, along with our high expectations for pupils.  We look forward to sharing the full report soon.

For now, I think all the teachers are ready for some well-deserved rest!  Thank you to everyone who continues to make Glebe such a wonderful community.

Have a lovely weekend!

Best wishes

Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Use Positive Intervention

We’re all about stepping in to help others in a positive way! Sometimes, we see things happening around us that don’t seem right or could be better.  Positive intervention means using kind words and actions to make a situation better for everyone involved.  It’s like being a superhero who solves problems with empathy and understanding!

Football Update from Mr Acquah

On Wednesday, seventeen boys from Year 5 and 6 represented the school in the Castle Point schools football tournament at Deanes School.

We had two teams (A and B), giving more children the opportunity to represent the school.  Both teams played at least four games and team A qualified for the quarter finals, where they played Westerings.  We won 2-1, but lost narrowly (1-0) in the semi-finals.  Out of the 24 teams, the A team finished in fourth place.

Even though the B team did not qualify for the quarter finals, they played gallantly in every game.  They also had a quickly arranged friendly match, giving the boys some extra game time.

Well done to all the boys who represented the school on Wednesday and thanks to all the parents who transported the children to the competition.
