Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

As we move through another busy and rewarding term, it has been wonderful to see our children continuing to embrace the many opportunities available to them both in and beyond the classroom.

This week, our Year 6 children enjoyed a visit to Walton-on-the-Naze Nature Discovery Centre as part of their curriculum enrichment.  The visit provided valuable opportunities for pupils to deepen their understanding of their current learning through first-hand experience, while also developing their curiosity about the natural world.

Today, I had the pleasure of attending a local headteacher network conference, collaborating with fellow school leaders and Trust colleagues to discuss how we continue to navigate the ever-evolving educational landscape.  These opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another and reflect on best practice are invaluable in helping us provide the very best experiences for our children and families.

Looking ahead to next week, we will begin gathering the views of children and parents as part of our termly planning process.  Your feedback plays an important role in helping us evaluate our provision and shape future priorities, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

We are also pleased to welcome our Reception parents to our phonics and curriculum workshop next week.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn more about how phonics is taught in school and how you can support your child’s learning at home.  In addition, Year 1 parents are invited to join their children for their enrichment event and to enjoy a school meal together, and we are sure this will be a memorable experience for all involved.

There is still plenty to look forward to as the term continues, and we are excited about the opportunities ahead.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.

Warm regards

Mr Clarke

News from EYFS

Week 1 phonics is done!  The children have done so well learning their first four sounds with actions and rhymes as well as sitting and trying to write some sounds in their workbooks – we are so proud of them all.  We have added the parent support sheets for the sounds in the class chat so you can support your child’s learning at home.

Next week we will be learning about our families so please have a conversation with your child about who the people are in your family.  If you would like to send in a photo of people so they can share these with the class that would be lovely – please make sure you write on the back who they are and the name of the child so we can make sure they are not misplaced.

Influential Figure – Coco Chanel

Coco Chanel was a famous French fashion designer who changed the way women dressed in the early 1900s.  She encouraged comfortable and practical clothing instead of heavy, restrictive outfits and created elegant styles that remain popular today.  Coco Chanel is also known for founding the Chanel fashion brand and introducing the world-famous perfume, Chanel No. 5.  Her creativity, confidence, and determination helped her become one of the most influential figures in fashion history.

Music Moment

Our music moment this week was Jupiter from the Planets.  Composer: Gustav Holst (1874-1934).

Fortnightly Focus – Ambition

This fortnight, our focus is on Ambition as we encourage all pupils to aim high and challenge themselves to achieve their very best.  Whether it is improving in a subject, taking part in a new activity, or working towards personal goals through our Personal Development Curriculum, every child has the opportunity to grow and succeed.  By showing determination, resilience and a positive attitude to learning, pupils can reach important milestones and celebrate their achievements.  We are proud of the ambition our children show each day as they work towards a successful future.
