Dear Glebe Families
As always, it has been a busy and productive week at Glebe. We continue to work closely with colleagues from other schools and settings, helping to shape and refine our curriculum and assessment approaches. This outward-facing work is a key part of ensuring we remain reflective, forward-thinking and committed to delivering the best for our children.
A special highlight today was our celebration assembly, where we were thrilled to welcome Henry’s mum, as we remembered Henry. Your fantastic fundraising efforts were truly inspiring. Thank you for supporting such a treasured charity. We look forward to sharing more about our upcoming celebration and sensory garden, where plans are now well underway.
A gentle reminder to all families: we are continuing to see some inconsistencies with PE uniform. Please ensure your child is wearing the correct uniform on their designated PE days. From next week, if children are not in appropriate uniform, we may contact home, provide a change of clothes, or send a letter as a follow-up. When choosing Glebe, all families agreed to uphold our expectations and values through our Home School Agreement. Maintaining high standards, including uniform and PE uniform, is a shared responsibility and a key part of our school culture. From next week, hoodies and leggings will not be permitted as they do not form part of our uniform or PE uniform. Health and safety expectations in regard to earrings and jewellery, from Essex, dictate that all items should be removed. No child will be allowed to keep items in, on or taped up. They must be removed to ensure the safety of your children during physical activity. We appreciate your continued support.
Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Parking – William Harvey Surgery
We kindly ask all parents and carers to refrain from blocking the parking spaces and access areas of the William Harvey Surgery, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. Please do not leave vehicles unattended in this area when walking children to and from school.
There was a recent incident where an ambulance was unable to park outside the surgery due to obstructed access. This poses a serious risk, as the surgery serves many patients with mobility difficulties and urgent medical needs.
We urge everyone to be considerate when parking and to ensure emergency and patient access is not hindered in any way.
To support this, the school will be contacting Essex County Council to request a more regular presence of traffic wardens in the area.
Thank you for your co-operation in helping to keep our community safe and accessible.
InVentry Signing In and Out
We kindly ask that you refrain from using the photo section of the InVentry sign-in/out system as a photo shoot area. The photos captured during sign-in are important for safeguarding purposes and may need to be referred to in the future, therefore must be of the adult collecting or dropping off. Thank you very much for your understanding and co-operation.
Uniform Policy Reminder
Earrings must be small studs only (no hoops). These must not be worn on PE days or be able to take them out independently.
Henry’s Fundraiser – Non-Uniform Day
Thank you to everyone for your donations today for Little Havens, we raised £390! Well done!
News from the Resource Base
The children in the Resource Base remembered Henry today by creating a memory jar. They thought about memories they have of Henry and linked this to a colour. Each colour was then entered into the jar to represent Henry and what they remembered and loved about him. A bright, colourful and glittery representation of our lovely Henry.
News from EYFS
This week in Reception, the children have been exploring the theme of “Super Duper Me!” We read the story Super Duper Me and talked about the things they enjoy, what makes them special and how these things help shape their unique personalities. Each child made their own special star to celebrate what makes them super special!
In maths, we focused on grouping objects. The children learned how to decide which objects go together by choosing their own rules and comparing items to help make those decisions.
We’ve also been busy with some autumn-themed creative activities. The children practised their cutting skills and made autumn crafts, including leaf rubbings. We’ve started learning about the season of Autumn, what it is and what changes happen during this time of year.
What a busy and exciting week we’ve had!
Influential Figure – Nelson Mandela
Nelson Mandela was a global hero for justice who believed everyone should be treated fairly and with kindness. When he became President of South Africa, he supported Ladysmith Black Mambazo, a famous South African singing group known for their beautiful and peaceful songs. Mandela loved their music because it helped share the message of hope and unity, showing how people from different backgrounds can come together in friendship and harmony.
Music Moment
Our music moment next week is Inkanyezi Nezazi – Ladysmith Black Mambazo.
Fortnightly Focus – Using Positive Intervention
This week, our focus is on how we can all use positive intervention to help ourselves and others make good choices.
That means:
-Noticing when someone is about to make a mistake and helping them stop before it happens.
-Reminding each other kindly about rules and expectations.
-Stepping in calmly (and safely) if you see someone being unkind or making an unsafe choice and always telling an adult if you’re unsure what to do.
Using positive intervention means we don’t just stand by, we help make things better.
How does this link to our British Values?
One of our British Values is the Rule of Law. This means:
-Everyone follows the rules.
-Rules keep us safe, fair and respectful.
-We understand that there are consequences when rules are broken, but we also know that we can help each other make the right choices.
At Glebe, we believe that every child has the power to make a positive difference: in the classroom, the playground and around the school.
So this fortnight, let’s all look for moments where we can step in positively, kindly, calmly and help each other shine.

Well done to our newly appointed Team Captains!
After a rigorous selection process, including preparing and delivering a speech in front of the whole school, our pupils showed real courage, determination and enthusiasm.
The standard was incredibly high, with strong displays of leadership and passion throughout. The final decision came down to a whole-school vote.
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part and a huge congratulations to our new captains!
