Dear Glebe Families
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils for the resilience, focus and determination they have shown throughout SATs week. They approached each day with positivity and gave their best, and we are delighted to give them the recognition they deserve for their efforts. They particularly enjoyed breakfast, especially Fry-up Friday!
Looking ahead to next week, there’s plenty to look forward to. Group 1 of our Year 6 pupils will begin their Bikeability training; an important opportunity to learn valuable road safety and cycling skills in a fun and practical setting. Year 6 will also begin their swimming lessons, developing confidence and competence in the water as part of the PE curriculum. On Thursday, we are excited to host the Junior Music Festival rehearsal for our school choir alongside choirs from other local schools; this promises to be an inspiring morning of music-making and melodic harmonies. To round off next week, we have our much-anticipated Sports Afternoon on Friday. This event includes a wide range of activities that promote teamwork, enjoyment and inclusive participation, ensuring that every child can be involved, challenged and celebrated. We look forward to seeing you all at the family picnic.
Have a lovely weekend!
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

News from the Resource Base
The Resource Base have had an exciting week this week. We’ve had outdoor measuring tasks, simile bingo with the use of sherbert lemons and finding out how to look after a Hippogriff! All the RB groups have worked incredibly hard and have impressed staff with their team work, perseverance and turn taking. Children, share your knowledge and show your adults these exciting skills at home. I’m sure they will be as impressed with your skills as we all are. Well done!
News from EYFS
We have had another week enjoying being ‘under the sea.’
The children have had a fabulous time deciding, drawing and writing all about why ‘Tiddler’ might be late to school. They have some very inventive ideas and their discussion vocabulary has been amazing.
Our maths focus has been all about 2D and 3D shapes, how we build with them, how we manipulate them to make pictures and patterns and how we can rotate them to make tangram art.
In expressive arts and design the children have learnt about Piet Mondrian and his use of the 3 primary colours to create neoplasticism inspired art. They have also used resources such as sponges and bubble wrap to make their own under the sea picture.
We wish you all a fabulous weekend and look forward to seeing you next week!
Uniform Expectations and Policy
A reminder that make-up, false nails and fake tan are not permitted at school. No jewellery except a watch and stud earrings in each earlobe. We appreciate your co-operation in ensuring our pupils adhere to the school’s policy. Thank you for your understanding and support.
Fortnightly Focus: Supporting Others – Linked to the British Value of Tolerance
What is Tolerance?
Tolerance means being kind and respectful to everyone, even if they are different from us. It’s about understanding other people’s feelings, listening to them and treating them how we would want to be treated.
Over the next two weeks, we are going to learn all about Supporting Others. This helps us show tolerance, which is one of the British values we follow in our school. When we support others, we are being kind and fair, and this makes everyone feel happy and included!

After the WW1 Aviation Heritage Trust visited Year 6 in March, the children were invited to apply for a 30 minute flight with the Cambridge Aero Club.
Ella E, Luke R, Nila B and Lily M were the successful applicants at Glebe!
On Saturday 10 May they all took to the skies in a Cessna 172 light aircraft. They were all extremely excited and thrilled to be taking part. They flew all over Cambridge and the pilot pointed out landmarks along the way including Cambridge University! They were all buzzing when they landed and wanted to fly again.
The Aero Club presented all four pupils with a certificate and flight tag as a souvenir of their day.
It was a wonderful experience and the weather was perfect. Congratulations to all of you, it was definitely a day you’ll never forget!
Ella E – “It was the best experience of my life!”
Nila B – “Gorgeous views from the window and it was so much fun!”
Luke R – “This was amazing, I can’t wait to work in Air Traffic Control one day!”
Lily M – “It was so much fun and I hope that one day I will get to do that again!”
Congratulations to Kian in Year 6 for competing in the swim England East Regional championships for the past two weekends where he represented Essex against five other counties. The level of competition is extremely high and it’s an achievement just to qualify. Well done, Kian, we are proud of your drive and determination!
