Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

What an action-packed week it’s been at Glebe!  I was absolutely thrilled to see the Key Stage 1 performances this week; never have I seen such confidence and talent on display.  The acting, singing and seamless scene changes were truly exceptional and I couldn’t be prouder of our young stars.

A huge thank you to the Friends of Glebe for organising the Elf Emporium, which was, as always, a huge hit with the children!  The Christmas celebrations have truly commenced!

Looking ahead to next week, we’ve got more festive fun in store.  We’ll be enjoying the Panto (oh yes we will!), followed by our much-loved Christmas dinner day; a feast we all look forward to.  And, unbelievably, next Thursday marks the end of term before the Christmas break!

A quick reminder that Willows wraparound care will close at 4.15pm for all children next Thursday.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend ahead!

Mr Clarke

Achievements

A huge well done to Grace in Year 6 who took part in the annual charity Christmas skate gala last week, which was her first solo!  Grace has been skating since she was 2 and a half.  The skate club raised £335 for Havens Children’s Hospice.

Congratulations to Edie in Year 5 who was awarded a trophy at her football awards evening last Saturday from her manager.  She was delighted!

Resource Base Chelmsford Cathedral Visit

Last Friday, the children from the Resource Base were invited to the carol service for the deaf and deafblind people at Chelmsford Cathedral.  The service was conducted in sign language with a loop system and a lipspeaker.  Deaf children from schools in Essex took part in the service and the children from our Resource Base signed a carol.

Year 5 and Year 6 Dodgeball Tournament

Mr Acquah took two teams of 8 players each to the dodgeball competition at Deanes School on Wednesday.  Both teams played exceptionally well and qualified for the semi-finals.  Unfortunately, Glebe A and B played each other in the semi-finals, which meant that only one team got to the finals.

Glebe A lost 2-1 to Great Wakering in the finals and Glebe B finished in fourth place.  A great achievement for the teams and for our school.  Well done to all the children who took part and to the parents who transported the children to and from Deanes School.
