Dear Glebe Families
Welcome back to the Christmas half term, I can hardly believe we are here again! I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our families who engaged with our staff at parents’ evening this week. It was wonderful to meet so many of you and we truly appreciate the overwhelmingly positive comments, words of support and kindness shared.
On Thursday, Year 6 enjoyed a poignant Remembrance experience at the church. We were all so impressed by the behaviour and maturity shown by our children during this special event.
We are always keen to maintain open lines of communication with you and we’ve received great feedback about the Class Dojo app. However, I’d like to kindly remind you that in line with our Trust communication policy, messages and interactions should, where possible, occur between 8.00am and 4.00pm on Monday to Friday. Our staff are busy crafting high-quality learning experiences during school hours and, after work, it’s important they have time to rest and recharge to continue providing excellent education the next day.
I’d also like to address a recent issue regarding our uniform expectations. We’ve noticed a few slips in standards and would like to remind you that adherence to our uniform and PE policies is vital. Specifically, for outdoor PE, only school jumpers and fleeces should be worn, no hoodies or non-uniform items. Children not in the correct attire will be asked to change. Please support us in reinforcing this policy, as it teaches our children important life skills about rules, policies and working together.
Next week, we are excited to welcome Year 2 parents for lunch and begin preparations for our Open Evening, which promises to be a fantastic event.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend ahead!
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus: Demonstrate Respect
Our Focus: Showing Respect
British Value: This week, we’re thinking about how important it is to show respect to everyone, especially those who might believe or celebrate different things than we do. In our school, we want everyone to feel safe, welcome and valued, no matter what they believe!
What Does Showing Respect Mean?
Showing respect means being kind, listening carefully and treating others the way we want to be treated. It means understanding that everyone is special and unique, with their own beliefs, traditions and ways of doing things.
How Can We Show Respect?
Listen and Learn: If a friend shares something about their holiday or a tradition from home, listen carefully and show interest! Asking questions like “What’s that like?” or “How do you celebrate?” is a great way to show respect and learn something new.
Use Kind Words: Sometimes we might not understand why people do things differently. That’s okay! Even if we don’t agree or we’re not sure, we can still be kind and say respectful words. This helps everyone feel safe and happy.
Celebrate Differences: Think about how fun it is that we all have different things to share! Maybe your friend celebrates a different holiday or has a special tradition. This makes our school interesting and full of new things to learn!
Stand Up for Respect: If you ever hear someone saying something unkind about another person’s beliefs, stand up and remind them that in our school, we respect everyone. You can simply say, “We are kind here.”
Music Moment of the Week
This week’s music moment is Firework – Katy Perry. “Firework” is a song by American singer Katy Perry from her third studio album, Teenage Dream. Perry co-wrote the song with Ester Dean and the song’s producers Stargate and Sandy Vee. It is a dance-pop self-empowerment anthem and inspirational lyrics, and Perry felt it was an important song for her on the record.
Influential Figure of the Week
Our influential figure of the week is Guy Fawkes. He took part in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605. The plot tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament to kill King James I and his government. The plotters were discovered and captured on 5 November. This led to celebrations known as ‘Bonfire Night,’ which still happens nowadays.
