Dear Glebe Families
I hope this newsletter finds you well. This week, our Year 6 students showcased remarkable stamina, resilience and maturity as they completed their SATs. We couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and dedication.
A huge thank you goes out to all the staff who supported our children during this testing period, as well as to our fantastic catering team at Caterlink for providing them with nourishing gourmet breakfasts every day.
I’d also like to express my gratitude to the Year 3/4 parents who took the time to respond to our survey about next year. Your input is invaluable and we will carefully review all responses to ensure the best decisions are made for our children’s education.
On another note, we’ve observed a decline in the standards of uniform and PE kits. We expect all students to be in full and appropriate uniform at all times, including PE days. After the half term break, we will be enforcing our uniform policy more rigorously, ensuring that all children adhere to the guidelines outlined in the uniform list below. Please take a moment to review it and if you’re in the process of purchasing uniform or PE kit for September, ensure it meets our requirements.
Additionally, I want to extend a warm thank you to the parents who attended our Year 5 lunch today. Your presence was greatly appreciated and it was wonderful to see so many of you there.
Finally, let’s hope for some sunshine as we head into the weekend. Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend ahead.
Warm regards
Mr Clarke

Fortnightly Focus – Persevere and Share
Democracy is like a big group project where everyone gets to have a say in what happens. It’s a way of running a country where the people who live there get to choose their leaders and have a say in making decisions.
To persevere means to keep going, even when things are tough or challenging. It’s like when you’re learning to ride a bike and you fall down, but you get back up and try again until you succeed.
Share is about giving some of what you have to others. It’s like when you have a snack and you give some to your friend so you both can enjoy it together. In a democracy, people share their ideas and opinions so that everyone’s voice is heard and considered when making decisions.
Music Moment of the Week
The Vegetable Orchestra is a unique ensemble that creates music using instruments made entirely from vegetables. “Green Days” is likely an event or performance they’ve done, where they showcase their innovative approach to music-making, emphasising sustainability and creativity. It’s a fascinating fusion of art, music and sustainability.
Influential Figure of the Week
Christopher Columbus was an explorer who is famous for his voyages across the Atlantic Ocean in the late 15th and early 16th centuries. He was born in Genoa, Italy, around 1451. Columbus believed he could reach Asia by sailing westward, but instead, he reached the islands of the Caribbean, thinking he had reached Asia. His voyages led to the European exploration and colonisation of the Americas. For kids, Columbus is often remembered as an adventurous explorer who sailed across the ocean blue in 1492, discovering new lands and encountering indigenous peoples. However, it’s important to note that his actions also had significant negative consequences for the indigenous peoples of the Americas.
