Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

It certainly feels like the beginning of winter with the cold and wet weather this week and I can’t quite believe that very soon the warm up to our Christmas festivities and productions will begin.  It truly is a magical time of year here at Glebe Primary School and we have so much to look forward to.

Firstly, I would like to commend all the children for their outstanding efforts in their art work and home learning projects.  The creativity shown by our children never fails to impress me.  I was particularly blown away by the space models created by Year 5.  Well done, everyone!

I would also like to extend my congratulations to the boys’ football team for their exceptional performance this week.  Despite not winning, the team demonstrated incredible team work and tenacity, especially considering the rather wet and miserable conditions.  Your hard work and determination are truly commendable!

Tonight is an exciting night for our children as we have the Friends of Glebe discos taking place.  It promises to be a fun-filled evening and I would like to express my gratitude to all the volunteers and organisers who have made this event possible.

Next week, we have the Year 2 parent lunches on Thursday and Friday.  2VC start their enrichment event at 11.00am on Thursday, with 2N on Friday.  This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to join their children for a delicious Caterlink dinner served by Louise, Angie and the team and an opportunity to gain a taste of school life.  We look forward to welcoming you all.

As we approach the end of November, we have Children in Need next Friday.  Remember to dress your children in something bright and show, please if you are able, your support for this worthy cause.  A special thank you goes out to Miss Redwood and our Caterlink kitchen team for preparing the goodies for our cake sale after school.  Please do come and purchase some delicious treats if you can!

Lastly, I would like to remind you that our open evening is on 23 November.  Please note that school will close at 1.30pm on that day.  Some children who consistently demonstrate and role model our LEARN values may be invited back to showcase their learning.  We hope they can join us for this special event.

Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in the Glebe Primary School community.  We all hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to hearing all about it on Monday.

Warmest regards

Mr Clarke

Special Live Remembrance Assembly

The nation joined in this morning and we were blown away by how sensible, respectful and thoughtful our children were, particularly during the 2 minute silence.

Good Luck, Mrs P!

We wish Mrs Postlethwaite (Mrs P) all the best with her abseil down ArcelorMittal Orbit at the Olympic Park in London on Saturday.  Donations for Brain Tumour Research are welcome via this link.

Goodbye and thank you, Mrs Leek

We are sorry to say goodbye to Mrs Leek, HLTA, who is leaving us next week.  We wish her all the best and sincerely thank her for her contributions to Glebe.

Reception Play Area

Please could parents refrain from using the reception play area as a cut through.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Inappropriate Language

A gentle reminder: When you are on and around the school premises, please can you be mindful of the language you are using.  We had an incident earlier in the week whereby some children were exposed to inappropriate language.  At Glebe, we promote the ethos of respect and therefore expect this to be demonstrated by all members of the school community.  Thank you.
