Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you had a restful and enjoyable half term break.  I am delighted to report that we have had a very settled return to school this week, with our children eager and ready to dive back into their learning.  It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and positive attitudes towards their lessons.

In our assemblies this week, we have been discussing important topics such as Halloween safety.  We reminded our children about the importance of taking care on the roads, dressing visibly and practising safety measures whilst trick or treating.  Additionally, we have also addressed bonfire safety in our celebration assembly today, ensuring that our children are well-prepared for any upcoming festivities this weekend.

Speaking of celebrations, I would like to extend congratulations to our dodgeball team, who have made it to the finals on Wednesday.  Their hard work and practice have truly paid off and we could not be prouder of their achievement.

Unfortunately, due to the stormy weather conditions, the football match against Edward Francis had to be postponed yesterday.  However, we are eagerly anticipating the success of our girls team in their upcoming match next week.

I would also like to take this opportunity to let you know that a letter regarding our open evening and the arrangements has been sent out to all parents.  Please ensure that you have received this important communication with all the details for 23 November.  In addition, we have been made aware of some confusion with Scopay regarding the after school club on Fridays and the end of term.  Please note that we are only charging for a session A on these days, which means that Scopay may show a finish time of 4.15pm.  However, pick up will be by 4.30pm as usual.  We are looking into this on Scopay but please be reassured the close time is 4.30pm.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting event coming up on 16 and 17 November – the Year 2 lunch.  We are eagerly anticipating this enrichment event and are looking forward to sharing a delicious meal with our Year 2 families.  Furthermore, we will be celebrating and fundraising for Children in Need on 17 November.  More details about our planned activities will be provided in due course by Miss Redwood, our events co-ordinator.

Lastly, mark your calendars for the Friends of Glebe Discos, which will be taking place next Friday.  It promises to be an evening filled with music, dancing and fun for all.  We hope to see many of the children there, dancing the night away.

As we enter the winter months, I would like to remind everyone to take extra care on the darker mornings and evenings, especially when the weather is poor.  Safety is always our utmost priority and we want to ensure that everyone arrives and leaves school safely.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s education.  We cannot wait to share in many experiences with you in the term ahead.

Warm regards

Martyn Clarke
