Headteacher’s Message

Dear Glebe Families

I hope you are all well and have had a fantastic week.  It has been another eventful week here at Glebe Primary School, filled with exciting activities and opportunities for our children to learn and grow.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate our girls’ football team on their outstanding performances in the matches held on Wednesday at Glebe and Thursday evening at Grove Wood.  Our girls displayed great team work, determination and sportsmanship.  Well done to all the players and a big thank you to our dedicated coaches, Mrs Norman and Miss Mitchell, for their support, organisation and time dedicated to the team.

On Wednesday, our boys’ football team participated in a tournament.  It is always wonderful to see our children representing our school with pride and passion.  We were certainly proud of them and their achievement.

In other news, our Year 3 and 4 children had a fantastic Design and Technology day on Monday, where they had the opportunity to create beautiful Egyptian jewellery.  I was amazed by their creativity and craftsmanship.  It is wonderful to see our children engaging in hands-on activities that enhance their learning experience.

I had the pleasure of teaching in 3/4J this week, where we explored the fascinating concept of food chains.  I was truly blown away by the subject knowledge and specific vocabulary used by our pupils.  It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers and the enthusiasm of our children.

Our Year 1 children had an enrichment event today, where they had the opportunity to bring their parents to lunch.  It was heart warming to see the joy on their faces as they shared a meal with their loved ones.  Thank you to the Year 1 team and Mrs Rose, for facilitating whilst I was at an unavoidable off site meeting and Mrs Coote and Miss Hembling were at a conference in Colchester.  These events not only strengthen the bond between school and home but also create lasting memories for our children.

On Tuesday, we commemorated World Mental Health Day by encouraging everyone to wear yellow.  We also had a special assembly for our Key Stage 2 students, who had a wonderful production led by Ant and Dec.

I am delighted to announce our prefects and team captains for this academic year:

Prefects: Aideen M, Keira C, Lenora D, Ellie M, Shaya M, Rae W, Ruby J, Tilly B, Coen C, Evie O, Amelie N and Amelia C.

Team Captains: Noah W, Lilly M, Olly P, Jada-Rose G, Zach G, Tilly B, Donny T and Ruby J.

These students have shown great leadership skills and dedication to our school community.  Additionally, our wet play monitors have had their first taste of responsibility, supporting and role modelling interactions and game play to younger children during the wet breaks on Thursday.  They have done a fantastic job so far.

Our school staff have been participating in training sessions focused on our phonics scheme, which is embedding exceptionally well.  We are committed to providing the best possible education for our children and these training sessions are a testament to our dedication and continuous improvement.

Our leadership team has been holding meetings this week to discuss your children’s progress.  I have been impressed by their knowledge of your children and the ways in which they can best support their learning.  Your children are fortunate to have such dedicated staff at Glebe.

Lastly, I would like to remind you that school will close at 1.30pm on Tuesday for parents’ evening.  I am looking forward to meeting you all and creating and enabling you to have the forum for discussing your child’s progress.  It is an excellent opportunity for us to work together to ensure their success.

Thank you for your continued support and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
