Headteacher’s message

Dear Glebe Families

I hope this newsletter finds you well and that you have had a fantastic week.  It has been an incredibly exciting and eventful week here at our school, filled with fun and excitement as we celebrated Core Values Day, today.  The children have truly outdone themselves with their incredible projects and demonstrations of team work.

One of the highlights of the week for me was the opportunity to teach Year 1.  I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with their amazing recall of their story using a text map.  It is evident that they are thoroughly enjoying the new talk for writing approach that we are trialling and their progress is truly impressive.

In Reception, the children have been making great strides as well.  I had the pleasure of supporting them this week and I was blown away by their confidence in practising their pincer grip.  They have also been creating number patterns on a numicon board using rubber bands, showcasing their creativity and fine motor skills.  Additionally, their awareness and knowledge of numbers up to 5 is remarkable for this stage in the year.

We also had an exciting penalty shootout with Southend United this week, which brought great delight to the children.  They had the opportunity to take on some of the sports coaches and it was a joy to watch their enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

Looking ahead, I would like to remind you that we will be welcoming Year 1 parents next Friday at 11.00am for an enrichment event.  It will be a wonderful opportunity for you to see first hand the incredible work your children have been doing.  Following the event, will be an opportunity for you to sample a Caterlink dinner, so please make sure you have signed up and paid by Scopay before next week.

Furthermore, please be reminded to mark your calendars for Tuesday 17 October, as it is parents’ evening.  School will close at 1.30pm on that day and children in the after school club will have a secured space at the bridging club from 1.30pm-3.15pm.  We also have 60 other spaces available for children to enjoy sports activities and more with our amazing staff and specialised sports coaches.  The booking system goes live at 6.00pm tonight for both the appointments and the bridging club bookings.

Lastly, I would like to address a matter that has arisen this week.  We have unfortunately had a couple of unpleasant interactions with some parents.  I kindly request that you remember to speak to our staff with respect and courtesy.  They are here to help and it is of utmost importance that they feel comfortable and supported in their work.  Please help us to help you by remaining calm and kind.

I wish you all a lovely weekend; a heatwave is on its way!

Please be mindful of our local residents when parking near the school and your speed when exiting the car park.  There have been occasions this week where the entrance and exit are being blocked and parents are parking on the zig zags, which has prevented staff from being able to access the car park.  Thank you.
