It has been so lovely seeing a little bit of sunshine this week and seeing so many happy faces in and around the school. I have had the opportunity to have many conversations through out this week with the children and all of those that I have had, have been excited, enthused and ready to learn.
This week I attended the Termly Head teacher’s conference which provided some useful updates on Attendance which will support our drive to reach the 97%target. I’ve attached the new Government guidance in the Gazette so that parents are aware which procedures we will need to adhere to.
The weather suggests a cold spell is coming, so wrap up warm and have a lovely weekend!
Friday After School Club
Unfortunately, the number of children attending Friday After school club, after 4:15pm is not sustainable for the school from a financial point of view. From After Easter, Friday after-school club will finish at 4:30pm every week. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. It was a difficult decision but does mean we can avoid a steep rise in prices. I really do appreciate your understanding.
A huge well done this week to:
|RRB: Ruby H and Artie M||RD: Seth M and Lewis R|
|1N: Jaxon N and Aluna T||1R: Benjamin Q and Henley B|
|2/3R: Hunter H and Maisie C||2/3BV: Isabella B and James T|
|2/3A: Ellie A and Ellis D|

|5L: Noah W and Coen C||5P: Freya F and Joshua B|
|6A: Theo B and Ervin S||6G: Maisie N and Bailey CT|
After Half Term, all gates will be locked at 3:30pm. Please collect all clubs from the main office at the end of the club time.
DFE Attendance Legislation
The current law does not give any entitlement to parents to take their child out of school during term time. The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 and prohibits Head Teachers granting leave of absence to a pupil except where an application has been made in advance and the Head Teacher considers that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013 prohibits Head Teachers granting leave of absence to a pupil except where an application has been made in advance and the Head Teacher considers that there are exceptional circumstances relating to the application.
If you do take your child out of school for this any holiday time, the absences will not be authorised and the Local Authority may issue a penalty notice to each parent of £60 for each child to be paid within 21 days. If the penalty is not paid within the time scale the penalty will increase to £120. If the higher penalty is not paid within 28 days, the Local Authority will then institute legal proceedings against you in the magistrate’s court under Section 444 of the Education Act 1996 for failing to ensure your child attends school regularly.
Please note: If you have previously received a Penalty Notice for an offence of failing to ensure regular school attendance or been the subject of a prosecution for any child in relation to irregular school attendance, you may not be given the opportunity to pay a further Penalty Notice; your case may proceed directly to court.
The matter will also be recorded on your children’s school record.
Next week we will be on Week 3 of the Autumn Winter Dinner Menu.
Attendance: Our school target is 97%
Year to date 94%
We expect pupils to be in school everyday.
We will not authorise term time absence except in exceptional circumstances and where appropriate, Essex County Council will issue fines.
